Koi Castella by Element
An E-liquid review today with a juice in some very exotic packaging, this is Koi Castella by Element. This is from a shortfill range containing some quite unique flavours of E-liquid. This Castella is listed as ‘Old Fashioned Yellow cake’ and was supplied by E-cigarette Direct. They are a very popular UK based vape vendor, having 20 stores and a website for mail orders. The website is stocked full of E-liquid (including their own Halo range), mods, starter kits and accessories. I’ve found their delivery times really quick with competitive pricing. They also have a popular vape blog called the ‘Ashtray Blog‘ which is well worth a read.
Koi Castella is supplied in a 60ml shortfill bottle with 50ml of E-liquid, so you can top up with a Nicotine shot. It comes in a box with a very Japanese-feel of a Koi Carp graphic and Japanese style font. The box includes printed warnings, ingredients, batch number, a best before and Element’s contact info. The box is titled ‘Castella Old-Fashioned Yellow Cake’ and ‘Traditional Japanese Desserts’. I haven’t noticed the base mix of the E-liquid on either the box or bottle, but it is listed as 80VG/20PG on the E-cigarette Direct website. The bottle is wrapped with a label that matches the box packaging, including the same printed details. The bottle is a unicorn shortfill with a child-safety cap and easy enough to pop off the top to add a Nicotine shot. The bottle is quite squeezy so no problems getting juice through the nozzle. Both the label and packaging is very classy and fits with the niche of the flavour range.
This flavour profile is described on the E-cigarette Direct website as Savoured by everyone, a delectable velvety sponge cake mixed with sweet vanilla and balanced with rich creamy notes. This relished blend is simply delicious! On smelling from the bottle, it is a really Cakey scent. There is a hint of a rich Vanilla alongside a deep Cake smell. I’ve had this in the cupboard for about 3 weeks giving it a good steep so this is all good to go. There was also the obligatory sniff test once every 3 days since (don’t tell me nobody else does that).
Device used: Wotofo Flux Mod and Wotofo Recurve RDA with 0.4 ohm coil.
On the vape, it’s a real deep rich creamy Cakiness. You can almost taste the fluffiness to it. The Vanilla nicely sits round the Cake flavour without overpowering it, which I’ve found can happen when throwing Vanilla into the mix. It is a sweet juice but is something I could vape all day. When I saw the title, I was thinking it’s possibly a lazy mix of just Yellow Cake flavouring, but no, good work has gone into the juice, the way Element know how. It’s a really moreish mix and if you are one for Cake flavours, this is spot-on. It is probably the best Cake-based flavour I’ve had since vaping and this bottle won’t last long.
My score: 8.8/10 – A decent fluffy tasting Cake E-liquid. Definitely one for Cake vapers to try!
