Target Mini 2 Kit by Vaporesso
A hardware review today with another kit, this is the Target Mini 2 by Vaporesso. This is a new updated version of the already successful Vaporesso Target Mini. The review is for the full kit which includes the Target Mini 2 mod and the VM tank 22. Vaporesso originate from Hong Kong and have a vast range of quality vape mods, tanks and smaller pod devices.
You can pick up the Target Mini 2 kit at a lot of vape shops or you can choose to buy direct at Vaporesso’s new online store at https:\/\/thevapereviews.com//thevapereviews.com//store.vaporesso.com/
What’s in the box?
The Target Mini 2 kit comes in a slide-up Grey box with an image of the mod and tank on the front. The text ‘It’s Back’ appears on the front over the image. The underside of the box has a printed description of the Target Mini 2 kit. Underneath is the specs on both the Target Mini 2 and the VM tank 22. Also printed here is what the box contains, contact details for Vaporesso and the batch number and barcode.
The side of the box includes 4 printed graphics of features of the Target Mini 2 kit. The bottom side includes a printed title ‘Target Mini II’. The top side has the printed ‘V’ Vaporesso logo.
Inside the box, is the Target Mini 2 mod and VM tank 22 on the top in plastic box padding. This lifts off to reveal an accessory box underneath with the Vaporesso logo. The box contains a nicely styled USB charge cable, a spare 0.6-ohm coil, spare glass for the VM tank and spare o-rings.
The box also includes the user manual for the Target Mini 2 kit and a warranty leaflet, inside a small envelope. The whole presentation of the kit is very stylish and nicely done and obviously good that all the spares are included.
The Target Mini 2 Mod
The Target Mini 2 runs on a 2000mAh built-in battery with an output power of 5 – 50W so can be used for a mouth to lung or direct to lung vape. It is a really tiny mod measuring just 6.3cm length, 2.6cm width and a depth of 3.7cm. The weight is really light at just 112grams without the added tank. Software running on the mod is Vaporesso’s Omni 4.2 and can fire resistance range of 0.03 to 5 ohm.
The design of the mod is very sleek with small indent grip sides and five small vent holes on the bottom. The micro USB charge port sits neatly on one side, so can be stood upright when charging. The 510 is situated at the top front and the Target Mini 2 is wide enough to accommodate the 22mm tank. To the rear of the mod has a ‘V’ Vaporesso logo as well as ‘Vaporesso’ and ‘Target Mini II’ printed on each side. The front of the Target Mini 2 has a black fire/power button at the top above an OLED display screen. At the bottom of the display screen houses a smaller menu button and the up/down button. You change the up/down by clicking either right or left of the button.
Vaporesso’s Target Mini 2 is powered on and off by clicking the power/fire button 5 times. The display covers the current power level in large font above current resistance, puff counter and last puff time. Above the current power is battery level and current vaping mode. A clock displays while the mod is in standby and you can lock the fire button by fast clicking 3 times. Access for the modes and settings are entered by long-pressing the mode button and you are able to set different vaping modes. You can also adjust clock display options, adjust screen brightness and puff counter settings.
Vaporesso claim the Target Mini 2 has 50% more battery time than the last Target mini. The unit fully charges in 60 minutes which is very good. Different colours currently available for the full kit are Silver, Black, Red and Teal.
The VM Tank 22
Vaporesso’s VM tank 22, supplied with the kit, is a top filling MTL/DTL stock coil tank. It has a bottom adjustable airflow which is set by sliding round to the desired position. You can close the airflow off or twist to a section of holes, for mouth to lung or a restricted direct to lung vape. Also, you can totally open the airflow for a more open direct to lung. E-liquid is easily added by unscrewing the top screw cap and filling E-liquid into the cut-out section.
The tank capacity is 2ml and 22mm size. You can also buy the VM in a smaller 18mm or a bigger 25mm. The overall size is very small measuring just 4.9cms length with the drip tip. Vaporesso is etched on one side of the bottom airflow control ring, adjacent to the airflow opening. The drip tip is removable in 510 size so can change it out if you wish.
Three windows surround the main body of the tank so is easy to tell how much E-liquid is in there.
There are two coils supplied with the tank and also sold separately. The pre-installed coil is a 1.0-ohm EUC CCELL which is ceramic. The extra coil is a 0.6 ohm and is an EUC Meshed coil. The coil is made from Tea Fiber cotton which is claimed to give a consistent flavour and thick cloud production.
Vaporesso’s VM tank 22 comes in Silver and Black (or as above Red or Teal if buying in the kit). If buying the tank separately, there is also Rainbow and Blue colour options. You can buy these direct from the Vaporesso store linked above.
My thoughts
I have been testing the Target Mini 2 kit for over two weeks within my daily set-ups. First impressions of the kit were that the size is really small and perfect to throw into a pocket when on the move. After vaping it for a few days, it was clear that it really packs a punch despite its small size.
The general look is nice with a basic user-friendly layout to the Target Mini 2 mod and is also comfortable to vape. I’ve been mostly using it 75% of the time as mouth to lung with some higher Nicotine E-liquid. If you slide the airflow on the VM tank to the holes option and close a few off, it gives a really perfect mouth to lung vape. When using for direct to lung, just spin round the adjustable airflow to totally open. While there is some minor restriction, it gives a nice direct to lung inhale too.
Battery life when using the kit is pretty good. Obviously, there is a dramatic drop when using DTL at higher wattage as opposed to a lower MTL vape. I’ve found that by using it in mouth to lung, I am getting just over a day before needing a charge. This changes to just under a day if in constant direct to lung. Either way, charge time is very fast and it’s not a problem when moderately vaping, the battery is more than good.
I am also very impressed with the coils in the VM tank 22. I’ve run both coils in the tank over time and they do give great flavour with different E-liquids. Both coils still have plenty of time left, using quite consistently, without any of the flavour dropping off. I do not taste any difference between both the CCELL or Meshed but can see that the 0.6 ohm Meshed is better for DTL vaping.
I mentioned in my review for the Vaporesso Luxe Nano that it bridged the gap between Pod systems and bigger mods. This Target Mini 2 does just the same. It’s much smaller and easier to take out as well as the added bonus of both MTL and DTL vaping. It is definitely something to look at if you want more poke than a pod device with the option of a good DTL vape.
