Vaporesso Swag II

Back on the blog with a Hardware review today and this is the Swag II kit by Vaporesso. This is supplied in kit form with the Swag II mod and the NRG tank. Every long-term vaper will know of Vaporesso due to the quality and stylish hardware they produce. They are based out of China and you can buy directly from their worldwide store.

The Swag II is a single 18650 Mod and the supplied NRG tank is a stock coil sub-ohm tank, so we’ll have a look at how it comes and how it runs.

What’s in the box?

Vaporesso Swag II BoxThe Swag II kit is supplied in a sealed tough cardboard box that slides up to open. A graphic of the kit is on top of the Grey box with the title and ‘Power & Style’ slogan. The outer box features Vaporesso contact details and 4 key features of the kit as graphics on the box. The bottom of the box has printed specs on both the mod and tank as well as everything listed inside. Also included on the bottom are a scratch authenticity label, bar-code and batch number.

The top of the box slides up to reveal both the Swag II and NRG tank housed in plastic packaging. Underneath is a cardboard divider with all accessories on the other side. Included in the accessories is a tough USB cable, a 0.15 ohm rated spare coil, and spare O-rings. There is also a user manual, warranty and a sheet explaining how to check for authenticity.

The packaging is stylish in the usual Vaporesso way with all the spares you would expect in a kit like this.

The Swag II Mod

Vaporesso Swag II ModThe Swag II is a single 18650 battery-powered device. It measures in at 10.8cms high with the NRG PE tank on top, 2.5cms wide with a 5cms depth. You can also add tanks to the Swag II with a max diameter of 25mm. The mod runs Vaporesso’s Axon chip and can fire between 5-80watts. This has a pulse mode that gives a consistent vape as it is fired and boasts a fast ramp-up time.

The curvy body of the Swag II is rubber-coated giving good protection and comfort in use. The power/fire button is situated on the narrow front of the mod at the top side. Under the power/fire button is the display screen which is situated above a settings button. On the side of the device is the ‘up +/down -‘ button under ‘Vaporesso Swag II’ title. The other side of the device is the mini USB port. On the same side is a tab on the bottom with the ‘V’ Vaporesso logo. On the bottom of the mod includes printed ‘Axon Chip’ text and venting holes.

At the top of the Swag II is the 510 port and adjacent to that is the battery compartment. This is raised and has a screw top to drop in the 18650 battery.

The display on the unit is an OLED 0.91′ size and includes all the usual information. The running power is displayed in large font in the middle. To the left are the current battery level, the resistance of coil attached, and the puff counter. The right side is the current mode displayed. The button lock icon can also show underneath if activated.

To change the mode and settings, you simply press the settings button 3 times. You can then make changes by using the up and down buttons situated on the unit. Here you can change between Pulse Mode, Power Eco, Smart Temp Control, DIY Mode, and system settings. In settings, you can change brightness, flip the display screen, reset puff counter, and a few other settings. You can lock the power/fire button on the Swag II by simply fast clicking the fire button 3 times.

The NRG Tank

Vaporesso NRG TankThe NRG tank by Vaporesso is supplied in either two sizes. NRG PE tank is the regular size of 3.5ml and there is also the NRG SE Mini, which is supplied to TPD governed countries at a size of 2ml capacity.

It is a stock coil sub-ohm tank and 2 coils are supplied in the kit. A GT4 Meshed coil at 0.15 resistance which can be fired at 50-75W and a pre-installed GT Cell Coil at 0.5 resistance, that can be fired at 25-35W. The GT4 coil uses double meshed cores which Vaporesso claim increases the contact area for better flavour and clouds.

The tank is pretty much a standard sized tank with the PE version at 25mm diameter and 50mm high. The SE Mini is 22mm diameter and 46mm high. A typical Sub-ohm tank style with bottom adjustable slide-round airflow and juice port that simply slides at the top lid.

The drip tip is removable so it can be changed out to another if required.

My Thoughts

When I first opened the kit and started testing it, the first thing I noticed and was gobsmacked at, was just how light the Swag II is. Even with a 18650 battery inserted, it still feels lighter than a Voopoo Vinci for example. The mod feels very comfortable to use adopting the same texture as The Gen mod, so it feels good in the hand. When vaping, it’s also comfortable with either thumb firing of turning it around the opposite way to finger fire the mod.

The Swag II features the Pico-style screw cap for the battery which I’m guessing was used so it could be more compact. While this may not appeal to some people, the battery seems more secure than having to flip open a compartment on the bottom of the device. A decent 18650 battery lasted me a day and a half to 2 days before needing a charge. I found this much better than other single 18650 devices I’ve used before for battery power.

The modes and settings are very easy to use and would suit any new vaper looking for a good sturdy device that is user friendly. Power adjustment is also easy by simply adjusting up and down on the side. Vaporesso’s Axon chip is reliable and found the device fires very quickly.

I used the Swag II and NRG tank mostly daily during the lockdown and found both coils in the kit to last very well. I preferred the GT4 Mesh coil but I found the flavour and clouds are brilliant on both coils. The tank again is easy to use with filling and even when breaking down to clean. It is a typical DTL tank and is built very sturdily.

I’m very happy with the Swag II kit. I would recommend it to vapers looking for a little device that is as easy as a large Pod device to carry around and is very comfortable to use. A definite improvement on the original Swag device with a smoother look.
