Blackcurrant Lemonade by Chief of Vapes
An E-liquid review today with a juice from a UK brand, this is Blackcurrant Lemonade by Chief of Vapes. These folks were popular at the UK Vaper Expo earlier this year (seems like a lifetime ago now), and this was the flavour that stuck out and won ‘best drink flavour of the show’. They originate from Blackburn, England and have a good-looking website stocked with their range of flavours. You can pick up Shortfills, Nic salts and they even sell a starter kit with a range of their E-liquid. They also have a walk-in store at their location if you’re local.
So let’s try out this Blackcurrant Lemonade and see if it’s what it’s cracked up to be!
The Packaging
This bottle of Blackcurrant Lemonade by Chief of Vapes is in a 60ml shortfill Chubby Gorilla bottle. There is 50ml of E-liquid leaving a 10ml space for a Nicotine shot should you wish to add it. The child-safety cap on the bottle is a strong one and seals off the nozzle well to stop leaks. The top cap has a flip back nozzle so is very easy to add any shots to the bottle, without having to wrestle with the plastic.
A colourful label wraps the bottle. The front has the printed title around an image of the Chief himself having a vape! Around on the side is the printed base ratio and bottle amount of E-liquid. To the back of the label is a white panel that includes printed ingredients in a few languages, printed warnings and contact info for Chief of Vapes. The bottom has a printed bar-code, warning graphics, expiry date and batch number of the E-liquid.
A nice, clean-looking designed label with all the information you would expect to be on an E-liquid.
The E-liquid
The flavour profile doesn’t take much to work out but is described on their website as; With the combination of ripe blackberries and lemonade, this E-Liquid really gets the taste buds going. The sweetness of the blackcurrant blends beautifully with the bitter-sweet lemonade to provide a teasing, yet enchanting, experience. The base ratio of the juice prior to adding a Nicotine shot is 70VG/30PG and being all fruity, it won’t take an age for a steep.
On having a smell from the bottle, it is full-on in-your-face Blackcurrant. There is some Citrus note in the background but on the nose, it’s mostly deep Blackcurrant. The E-liquid is purple in colour so it definitely fits the flavour profile visually.
Device used: Voopoo Drag Mini and Dead Rabbit V2 RDA with 0.4 Clapton build.
The Flavour
On the vape, Blackcurrant Lemonade by Chief of Vapes is a refreshingly punchy Blackcurrent and citrus Lemonade sitting in-amongst. On the inhale, initially, the driving seat belongs to sweet Blackcurrant. In amongst and coming out more leading into the exhale is a nice fresh Lemonade flavour. The Lemonade blends perfectly with the dark berry and you can almost taste something else marrying the two main flavours together in there. On subsequent vapes, both the Blackcurrant and Lemonade stay consistent, giving a very refreshing blend between each key flavour.
The Blackcurrant is akin to a Ribena taste, so a definite drink feel going on in this E-liquid, working really well with the Lemonade. Menthol heads might want to add a Menthol shot in the bottle as that would work if it’s your thing, but its a superb juice as it comes!
The flavour isn’t over-powering or either muted in any way, so would be perfect for an all-day vape.
My score: 8.7/10 – A sweet ‘Ribena’esque’ Blackcurrant with a nice fresh Lemonade alongside.
