So let’s check out this Z MTL tank and see what it’s about.
The Packaging
The Z MTL by Geekvape comes in a sealed cardboard box with an outer sleeve. My box is marked as ‘Sample’ so the retail version may differ slightly. The outer card sleeve features printed Geekvape branding with a slogan on the side ‘Geek Knows Better’, make of that what you will. On the bottom of the sleeve has printed contact info for Geekvape and what will be printed contents on the retail version. The sleeve slides off to reveal the main box with Geekvape branding.
Inside the main box, is the Z MTL tank in padding on the top, pre-installed with a 0.8Ω A-Series coil. In a box under the padding is the accessories which include a spare 510 drip tip, a 1.2Ω A-Series coil and spare O-rings. The box also has a user manual and a small envelope with the warranty and warning card inside.
Design & Spec.
The Z MTL Tank by Geekvape is a Mouth-to-Lung tank utilising Geekvape’s A-Series stock coils. The tank measures 5.5cms high with a 2.2cms (22mm) diameter. The juice capacity is 2ml. It is a top airflow tank boasting a leakproof design.
The tank has a thick Metallic alloy body with a Z cut on each side to display the glass tank showing the juice volume. The bottom of the tank slightly contours inwards above the 510 pin. At the top part of the tank, above the ‘Z’ windows is an adjustable top airflow ring. This can be opened and closed to adjust 3 airflow holes on each side of the ring, utilising the top-to-bottom airflow on the tank.
Above the airflow ring is the fill port which is accessed by a half-turn of the Geekvape branded top screw cap. There are 2 large fill ports underneath. Pushed into the top is a removable 510 drip tip that has a smaller bore for MTL vaping.
This Z MTL tank is obviously Black but you can also purchase it in Rainbow, Gold, Blue, Stainless Steel and Gunmetal colours.
The Coils
Two Geekvape A-Series coils are supplied in the Z MTL tank box which are designed for MTL vaping. One is a 0.8Ω pre-installed that is rated for 12-16W. The other coil in the box is a 1.2Ω rated at 8-12W.
The bottom simply screws off the tank and the coil is installed easily by pushing up into the middle of the tank. The coils have small but ample sized cotton slots situated halfway up each coil.
You can purchase the replacement coils in either resistance and they come in packs of 5. Sold here at Health Cabin.
My Thoughts
I have been using the Z MTL tank for well over a week daily. For a stock coil MTL tank, I think it is outstanding! The design looks very stylish and it is easy to refill and maintain without leaks. The ‘Z’ cutouts look good on the tank and are easy to see the juice level inside.
The airflow for me is perfect and works well, offering quite a tight MTL vape when fully closed off and a very airy vape when fully open. I usually use the airflow with one or two holes open out of the three, which gives me the ideal airflow for my preference of vaping.
I’ve used both resistance coils in the tank and the flavour across different E-liquid profiles is brilliant. Desserts can be hit or miss on some brand coils, but these A-Series MTL coils are great and all the flavour notes are there. I’ve also noticed so far the flavour stays consistent on both the 0.8Ω and 1.2Ω coils so I have a feeling coil life on these is good, both of these coils are still going strong. The flavour on each coil is similar but you do get more vapour production on the 0.8Ω at higher wattage.
Something else to note is the tank/coils cope with higher VG liquids just fine. I wasn’t getting any dry hits even up at 80VG E-liquids.
Over the last few years, MTL RTA’s seem to be more abundant with seasoned MTL vapers, but for a stock coil MTL tank, it doesn’t get much better than the Z MTL by Geekvape. I’ve tried hard to find any flaws on the tank and I really cannot find any; the tank is appealing in design, gives a great vape and the coils for it are superb.
